My internet habits

I must say that I use internet more than any other form of media out there. I use the internet at least once or twice a day, whether its googling something random or checking my facebook. The internet is the most convenient form of media in present day because of the idea that we can access the internet from our mobile phones. I would say that without the internet, I’d be less fortunate and gaining information or communicating would be much more difficult. I can use the internet wherever I want since I have safari on my phone, but I also will use my laptop when online shopping or doing homework. The most common websites I use are Facebook, Amazon, Publix.org, and Wikipedia.
I use the internet the most every evening when I get home from work and school. I use the internet on my Toshiba laptop every night when doing homework, checking my Facebook, or online shopping. I use the internet when I’m at school and work as well when I get internet connection on my phone. The most common reason that I use the internet so often is because of social networking sites. I use Facebook the most to communicate and share with my family and friends. I use Facebook to post pictures, update important news to my friends, or to get in touch with friends and family that I don’t get to see very often. The internet and social networking sites has made a huge benefit for communication and a great way to keep people in touch and informed on what friends and family are up to.
I also use Amazon pretty often for online shopping. I use Amazon as the primary source for shopping online because I have the student prime membership which gives me Free 2-day shipping on items that I purchase. I also use Wikipedia the most often when doing research for school or if I am just searching for random information. The other website that I use the most is Publix.org which I use to check my work schedule or to check other things for my work. There are other many things I use the internet for, like google and Valencia atlas. I use google the most to search for any information that I am looking for since it takes me directly to what I need. I also use Valencia’s website to check emails from professors and grades.

Without the internet, gaining information and communicating would cost a lot more money and be a lot more inconvenient. I am very grateful to have such high technology in my generation since I am able to do homework much easier by using the internet for research instead of having to take a trip to the library and going through several pages of a book to find information. It’s much easier to just type in a question to google, and instantly getting the information that I need.

TV habits

I enjoy watching television sometimes, but I don't watch television as much as my friends and family do. The reason for this is because I don't enjoy spending much of my free time indoors stuck in front of a screen. I'd much rather be outside or doing something productive with my free time. During the school semester, I don't have much time for myself since I’m always at school or work, therefore I take advantage of any available opportunity that I get to do something constructive. The only time I watch television is if I’m watching the news with my dad, or if I’m currently into a TV series.
The shows that I enjoy watching the most are One Tree Hill and Pretty Little Liars. Although One Tree Hill is no longer currently airing, I own every season and still watch the episodes from time to time. Pretty Little Liars is still in season and I watch it with my mom every week that it comes on TV. This means that I only dedicate around a few hours a week for television due to my busy schedule and other interests. I watch Channel 9 news with my dad during the evening on the days that I'm off work during dinner time. The only reason I even watch it is because it's convenient and educational, meaning that I can benefit from watching it.
I watch TV mostly during the weekend because it is when I have the most available time to relax and pay attention to the content. I usually watch it in my room where I have peace and quiet, but sometimes I just watch whatever my parents have on the television in our living room. My parents usually have on Fox news or ABC family, so I will be kind of paying attention to it only because it is playing in the room since I’m normally focused on something else like homework. I typically watch shows that keep me in suspense or has characters in the show that I feel that I can relate to. I like to watch soap operas when I’m going through a break-up since I'm emotionally distraught. I like watching mystery shows like Pretty Little Liars because I feel like I am a part of the show since it keeps me guessing and trying to keep up with the clues in the show. The most common TV genre that I watch is Drama which is why my favorite series is One Tree Hill. I enjoy that show the most because I feel similar to the main character and I enjoy all the twists in the show.
The other typical time that I watch the most TV is when I am sick because it involves little productivity and movement. It's hard for me to watch TV if I am doing something like homework, or cleaning because I’m not very good at multitasking. TV is usually more of just background noise for my room, rather than a source of entertainment. Most of my friends and other teenagers spend the majority of their free time in front of a television screen instead of exercising or spending time with others. Ever since I was a kid I was always very active and always felt the need to be being productive. I sometimes will feel guilty for just laying down and watching television because I always know in the back of my mind that I should be doing something else more productive.

The TV networks that I view the most are usually ABC family and the CW. They have the most interesting TV series in my opinion. My family pays for us to have Comcast cable which has a lot of issues that inconveniences our TV viewing. When I end up having to pay for my own cable, I will most likely invest in Bright House since I have heard more positive reviews about it. If I am ever in a financial crisis where I can’t afford cable, I will be fine with just having broadcasting TV to watch the news since TV isn't all that important to me. It won’t really affect my daily routines since I don’t dedicate much time to it anyway, and I could still watch my TV shows online.

My film Habits

My Film Habits

I enjoy watching film whenever I can, whether it’s going out to the movie theater or just playing a movie on Netflix at home. Watching movies is one of my favorite hobbies, and a great way to learn or even just satisfy my viewing pleasure. I have a variety of favorite films that I like to watch, and I enjoy watching the movie after I read the book. Sometimes I feel as though I don’t get to watch as many movies as I would like during the week because of my busy schedule, but I usually get to relax and watch some over the weekend with friends if were enjoying a night in. Movies are a great way to bring people together and to teach a message to an audience.
My favorite movie ever since I was little has always been the film “Toy Story.” It is my favorite movie because I used to make my mom let me watch it over and over again as I was a little kid and it always made me laugh. I like to still watch it because it still makes me laugh and it reminds me of my childhood and makes me feel like a kid again sometimes. I love all kinds of Disney films, and other animated movies that are for kids. I also enjoy scary movies because I love the adrenaline rush that it can give me and the excitement of feelings afraid when watching it. My favorite scary movie is “The shining” since I used to always watch it with my dad when I was younger and he would always laugh at how afraid I would get during the scary parts. Mystery movies are also another of my favorite genre since it keeps me in suspense and keeps me interested during the film since I get to feel like I am part of the story. Romance movies are of course also one of my favorite genres and my favorite romance film is “A walk to remember.” Even though I have watched it hundreds of times, it still manages to make me cry in the end and always teaches me the lesson of to never take anything for granted. I think movies with deep messages are the best films since they can affect members of the audience’s perspective on things and teach those lessons.

The only time I really get the peace and quiet time to watch film is over the weekends at night if I am home and not working. I enjoy nights in with my girlfriends just renting a movie and relaxing. I don’t have too many channels on the TV in my room but I do have a DVD player and a Blu-Ray player so that I can still watch actual movies instead of just the news and other broadcasting shows. I can also use my laptop to watch film on certain websites that I feel are actually safe to watch and download them on. I prefer just watching movies at home for cheaper and more comfortable than going out to the movie theater and spending lots of money.

My reading habits

My Reading Habits

I enjoy reading in my free time because it gives me time to relax and enjoy time to myself. It gives me an excuse to give myself some quiet time since I don’t get much of it with my busy work and school schedule. Reading lets me clear my mind and take my mind off of stress. I also like reading since it allows me to picture the story in my own perspective, unlike when watching movies. When I am reading a good book, I can picture the characters in my own image that I perceive them to be depending on how they are described in the book. I’m also able to create my own vision of the scenes in my head which makes it more interesting to me and takes my mind to another place to where I can actually feel like I’m one of the characters in the story.
I like to read romance and mystery novels the most. My favorite author is Sarah Dessen, who writes mostly teen romance books. I enjoy her novels because I can relate to several of her stories and they always leave me wanting more after I try setting the book down. My other favorite author is Nicholas Sparks when it comes to reading romance books, and I like that I can watch the movie after reading the book. As I read his novels, I am able to feel exactly how the character is feeling and I’m able to see into the mind of the characters. In my opinion, reading is much better compared to watching movies because you can see what’s going on in the characters head, and you can know what they are actually thinking.
My favorite place to enjoy my leisure reading time is usually outside on my hammock during the day, or in my bed if its night time. I prefer being outside when I read normally because I can also enjoy the weather if it’s nice outside and maybe even get a tan at the same time. If its night time or bad weather outdoors, I will read in my bed where I can really focus and have peace and quiet. The only free time of the day that I would have to read is during the evenings or before I go to bed. It’s the best time for me to focus on what I’m reading since there are fewer distractions.
Unfortunately, I don’t get to read as often as I would like to. When school is in session, I rarely get time to read for fun since I usually have to read books assigned by professors which hogs up all my free reading time. During the summer is when I get to read the most, since I have plenty of open time in my day when I’m not out or working. When I’m balancing classes, homework, work, and a social life, it’s hard to also fit in time to have any true relaxation time to just sit down and read a good book. If I do start to read a book during the school semester, I usually find myself realizing I never finish them since weeks will go by where I haven’t  picked up on the reading due to lack of free time. This causes me to forget the details of what I had already read and leads me to giving up on the novel and never going back to reread it. I may not get to read for pleasure as often as I would like to, but when I do it gives me a chance to free my mind and gain more knowledge.
